Building the lighthouse

It all started with the basic Greenleaf Lighthouse Kit, which is a laser cut plywood kit.
This kit is for the lighthouse tower only

I added on a tiny house section using cardboard

It came together well

I used PolyFilla and that chunky stucco stuff used to make textured ceilings

I used some pre-made dollhouse windows for the house section

I made a little stovepipe from a "Bubble Tea" straw and cardstock

I had to cut a custom hole for the octagonal window I purchased separately
and I began assembling the lantern room

It was coming together well. I added a staircase I had purchased
separately as well.

I built a "rock" base from styrofoam and
papier mache.

Building This Lighthouse Kept Me Sane

Making all these tiny lobster buoys and gluing shingles on the roof etc. kept me occupied and happy during the first part of the pandemic. I loved that I was able to do this. Now it just collects dust, but I look at it and I love it.....I could never part with it. Too much of myself went into making it. I will be posting more photos of the actual construction of it in the coming days.

It's funny how sometimes you will build something, and when you lose it......you think you'll never be able to make something that nice again.....but then you end up creating something far better than the original ever was.

Here are also some tiny things I was able to salvage and put in the new lighthouse

These were the polymer clay fish trophies I had made, so I was sure to salvage them

This was the scratch built lobster trap I made, so I was sure to salvage it too!

Another photo of these things, before I ever had a digital camera

Many years ago, I built a 1:12 scale lighthouse using cardboard, foamcore, gravel stones, paint and Polyfilla. I had to move eventually, and get rid of some of my bulkier belongings. I salvaged what I could from my creation, but I always regretted that I was never able to keep the lighthouse.

Starting Blogging Again

Back in 2020, while the world was in COVID chaos, I decided to get back into building miniatures.  I had help from these crazy Dust Bunnies

Haunted Room Box

I started with this empty box I collected some of the things I was going to use I wallpapered, put in the fireplace and window I started cut...
